The purpose: A 10-week internship at the IIE Latina American and Caribbean office in Mexico City. This was a directed studies internship in which the focus was understanding Educational NGOs in Latin America. Through this internship, I gained first-hand experience within an international education organization in Latin America.

The internship required a total of 880 hours in the office, during which I worked in various facets of the Scholarship Division office. The scope of work ranged from: researching and creating new scholarship opportunities, identifying potential funders, drafting an annual report to funders, developing social media strategies and public relations between students, educational institutions and the State Department and working directly with Exxon Mobile and Cargill scholarship fellows in the preparation for regional and international conferences, with their bios and resumes, travel logistics and conference budget design. Through this internship I developed best practices for scholarship program management, and ideas on how to design a study abroad scholarship program for first-generation, heritage seeking students.
