Summer Internship- Mexico City

MA in International Education Management (IEM)

A three-semester International Education Management (IEM) program that incorporates 2 semesters on Monterey Campus and an additional semester abroad in practicum. This unique combination prepares students for a career in all aspects of international education management, curriculum, administration, and intercultural communication.

The IEM program is centered around five learning goals:

  • International Education Theory: Articulate the trends, best practices, and debates in the field of international education

  • Program Design and Assessment: Demonstrate the ability to develop and assess programs to meet the goals of fostering intercultural understanding and exchange

  • Intercultural Competency: Work collaboratively and effectively in culturally and linguistically diverse environments

  • Resource Generation: Demonstrate ability to plan and execute international education marketing, recruitment, enrollment management, and fundraising initiatives

  • Resource Management: Utilize management competencies including strategic planning, data management, budgeting, and staff management in the administration of international education programs.

IEM Practicum

IEM Practicum is a four to six month component that gives students an opportunities to apply their skills abroad. Through this practicum, students will gain the following knowledge: International Education Theory, Program Design and Assessment, Marketing & Recruitment, Intercultural Competency and Resource Generation & Resource Management.

 

MA in Public Administration

The Public Administration Program is designed with the flexibility to customize your focus while receiving all crucial components and skills in leadership and management. Through hands-on, applied experience, students thrive, and gain the knowledge needed to work for social change organizations, NGOs, nonprofits, and government agencies around the world.

Practicum- DPMI Plus

DPMI is an opportunity to apply classroom theory to the real world. Through intensive, hands-on activities that are applied to contemporary development challenges, DPMI participants gain practical skills to manage development projects in a variety of contexts.

Key skills: Problem Tree and results Framework, Log Frames, Core Competency Mapping, Facilitation Session Plan, Project Design Summary, Network Analysis, Action Research and Behavior Change Strategies. 

 

After taking DPMI, students conduct DPMI Development Practicum (DPMI Plus). This an academic and professional program in which MIIS students complete a 3-9 month internship in which they apply DPMI skills to benefit the host organization. Its is during this practicum that studnets apply the skill learned, create a narrative explaining their process along with a case study that examines some DPMI-related issues confronting the organization in which they are carrying out their professional activities. These issues may include project design; project monitoring; training; stakeholder participation; strategic partnering; social entrepreneurship; and innovation.
